Payment is by credit or debit card, or by money order, cashier's check, corporate check or law firm check made payable to the Clerk of the Supreme Court, and personal checks are not accepted. Missouri's results by attempt: July 2024, July 2025 and February 2026
The Board of Law Examiners posts a one-page results sheet for each exam that gives the number who sat, the number who passed, and the split by attempt, along with average scores. February 2026 had 181 examinees and 94 passed, or 51.9%. Of those, 179 sat both days in Missouri and 2 transferred an MBE score from another state, and both of the transferred-MBE examinees passed. First-time takers passed at 63.3% (50 of 79), second-time takers at 47.5% (28 of 59) and those on a third attempt or more at 34.1% (14 of 41).
July is the big sitting. July 2025 had 640 examinees and 505 passed (78.9%), with first-timers at 86.5% (473 of 547), second-timers at 41.2% and third-or-more at 29.3%. July 2024 had 640 examinees and 511 passed (79.8%), with first-timers at 85.0% (480 of 565). In the two summers 85% and 88% of the examinees were first-timers, while in February 2026 only 44% were (79 of 181).
The sheets also print score averages. Missouri first-timers averaged an MBE scaled score of 145.1 and an essay score of 145.1 in July 2025, against 124.1 and 121.4 for second-timers, so the retake gap shows up in both halves of the exam. The highest UBE total score on the sheets was 359.0 in July 2025, and the lowest score from someone who sat both days was 187.0.
