GU · FROM THE BAR'S OWN PAGESGuam gives only the NextGen exam
By Administrative Order AO24-002, dated February 2, 2024, the Supreme Court of Guam adopted the NextGen Bar Exam, with its first Guam administration in July 2026. The July 2026 notice of bar examination says NCBE's NextGen UBE is administered and the legacy UBE is no longer administered in Guam. The Board accepted July 2026 applications beginning March 17, 2026. The registration fee was $1,000, paid to the Supreme Court of Guam, and a $149 technology fee is paid to NCBE.
The order recites that the legacy exam components will be offered together with the NextGen exam between July 2026 and February 2028 nationally, and that beginning with the July 2028 administration the legacy exam ends. Guam's rules must be amended at least nine months before the first NextGen administration.

Guam filing deadlines, score and MPRE
Applications must be filed by December 15 before the February exam and by May 15 before the July exam. When the date is a weekend or holiday, the next business day applies, and the Board says its deadlines are rigidly adhered to. Postmarking by the deadline satisfies the filing requirement, but the application must come with every fee and the supporting documents, such as transcripts, certificates of good standing and a recent passport photograph. An unsuccessful examinee has ten days from the general announcement of results to file for the next exam if the announcement falls on, after, or within five days before the deadline.
To be admitted, an applicant must be at least 18, of good moral character and fitness, have filed an application under the rules, and pass the Guam Bar Examination with a score of at least 612 points and the MPRE with at least 80. The MPRE may be taken before or after the two-day Guam exam, but it must be passed within three years before or after the dates on which the applicant passed the Guam exam (Rule 3.08).

Transferring a UBE score to Guam
Under Rule 3.09, an applicant with a qualifying score from the Legacy UBE or the NextGen UBE in another jurisdiction may transfer it to Guam. A qualifying Legacy UBE score is 262 or higher, earned within the three years before the application. That window runs from August 1 after a July exam through July 31 three years later, and from March 1 after a February exam through the last day of February three years later. A Legacy score of 262 or higher stays qualifying in Guam until it expires, whether it was earned before or after Guam began the NextGen exam. Scores from a Guam MBE administration before July 2026 may be transferred out to other jurisdictions.
