Helix Bar Review
Helix's site describes it as Helix Bar Review by AccessLex. Its navigation lists NextGen UBE, UBE and state-specific MBE, and international and LL.M. programs, free MPRE prep, a free retaker guide and free mini-outlines. It states a 90 percent pass rate on the July 2025 UBE, and a promotion for a discount on any Helix course. It also says that NCBE and AccessLex Institute collaborated to develop the NextGen sample questions that examinees are using. What to ask: who is counted in the 90 percent, whether repeat takers are separated, and what the discount code does to refund terms.
AmeriBar
AmeriBar's site positions the course for at-risk and repeat takers, stresses personal support, real prior bar exam questions and small-group workshops, and offers a free trial. Its tutoring is listed separately. Its pass guarantee has the limitations we summarize in our price snapshot. What to ask: whether your situation meets the guarantee's conditions before you enroll, especially the nine-week enrollment requirement and the rule that the guarantee applies to the first exam after graduation.
Celebration Bar Review
Celebration's site lists courses for legacy and NextGen exams and for California, Florida, Georgia, the UBE and the multistate exam, plus California first-year law school exam information. It advertises a free retake for life until you pass and an AI-based study hub. What to ask: the exact terms of the free retake, what counts as a qualifying student, and what the AI features do and do not replace.
Critical Pass
Critical Pass sells flashcards for the MBE, the UBE and NextGen. Its site says every purchase includes free shipping and six months of digital access through the AdaptiBar platform. What to ask: how current the edition is for your exam date, and whether you will use the cards daily, since flashcards only help if you answer from memory.
SmartBarPrep
SmartBarPrep's site offers a state-by-state selector, free frequency-analysis downloads for the MBE, MEE and MPT, and says it has been trusted by more than 25,000 examinees. It says that if you buy the current version, it will send the next exam's updated materials free when released, though its notice concerned the July 2026 release. What to ask: which edition matches your exam date, and how it handles NextGen.
JD Advising
JD Advising's site emphasizes tutoring, repeat-taker support, an accountability program and one-sheets. It states that students who used private tutoring improved by an average of 26 points, that first-time takers at partner schools had a 95.5 percent pass rate, and that the tutoring has a 4.98 out of 5 rating from 172 customer reviews. It also lists 2026 MBE questions at $299.99 and a One-Sheets bundle. What to ask: how the 26-point average was measured, which schools are partners, and who wrote the reviews.
Why these claims cannot be compared
A pass rate for a partner school, a repeat-taker average score gain and a review rating each measure a different group over a different period. None is a controlled comparison. Use them as prompts for questions, not as rankings, and rely on a demo and the written terms.
