BarMax (TestMax)
TestMax's site describes a web and mobile platform with instructors, analytics and on-demand content for the LSAT and the bar exam, and lists a BarMax course. It states an 82 percent bar pass rate and shows a review count of 10,521 with an Excellent rating. One testimonial on the page says BarMax uses only real released questions for the essay and multiple-choice parts. What to ask: who is included in the 82 percent, whether repeaters are counted, and which exam dates and jurisdictions the course covers, since the site's claim does not say.
Studicata
Studicata's site lists subscription products, including Studicata+ at $29 a month and Case Briefs+ at $15 a month, alongside video lessons, outlines, practice and grading and feedback. Its bar prep material includes lessons labeled Bar Blitz for subjects such as agency, partnership, corporations and civil procedure, and essay walkthroughs. The site showed an early enrollment offer of $1,500 off a Studicata bar review using a promotional code, and states it has more than 1,400 reviews. What to ask: what the subscription includes for your exam, how essay grading works, and what happens to the price after the promotion.
Crushendo
Crushendo's site centers on audio flashcards and mnemonics for the bar exam, the MPRE, law school and related exams, with attack outlines and tutoring listed among its offerings. It says Corporate Vision named it the Best Bar Exam Prep Course in 2024 and shows Google reviews. What to ask: whether audio and mnemonics fit your learning, since they suit memorization and do not replace timed questions and graded writing.
Goat Bar Prep
Goat Bar Prep's site describes an outline course that uses humor, memes and short videos, with bundles for February 2027 and early access for July 2027 and a free MPRE crash course. It says its MBE topic outlines are written and that its MEE and NextGen courses were still being written. What to ask: which components are finished for your exam date before you pay, and how it handles graded essays and practice questions.
One-Timers
One-Timers' site presents a course designed for the California bar exam, with live in-person, live online and on-demand options, one-on-one attention and small class sizes. It says the course includes every licensed MBE question released by NCBE, additional simulated questions and 20 years of released essays with breakdowns and model answers. It also advertises a full money-back guarantee, limited to 25 students per session. What to ask: the exact terms of the guarantee, which exam administrations it covers and how California's July 2028 changes affect the course.
Bar Exam Toolbox
Bar Exam Toolbox's site offers private one-on-one tutoring for California, Florida and UBE jurisdictions, including NextGen and the MEE and MPT separately, plus Baby Bar tutoring, workshops and tools such as the Writing of the Week workshop, the Brainy Bar Bank and a self-study program. It also publishes a blog and podcast and reviews of study tools. What to ask: tutoring rates in writing, how many sessions are typical for your situation, and what you should have completed before the first session.
Providers we could not read
When we checked, the sites for some named providers did not load readable text or were unreachable from our tools, including Magicsheets, Approsheets, BarMD, WhatsTheIssue and Quimbee's bar page. We do not describe them here. Check each on its own site, and use our questions in the refunds and features guides.
How to use these descriptions
Pass rates, review counts, awards and testimonials are the provider's own statements and cannot be compared across providers without knowing who is counted. Price offers and codes change often. Use the demo and free trial where one exists, and keep a dated copy of the terms.
