Themis vs. Helix Bar Review: Price Model, Writing Feedback, Practice Questions, and Support

Compare Themis and Helix using what each states on its own pages as of September 24, 2026, including Themis's listed tuition and four-month access and Helix's coaching and schedule options. Themis listed 2027 tuition at $2,995 with a limited-time $1,895 price and four months of access, and built its pitch on an integrated UWorld MBE QBank, AI plus attorney essay grading and a study planner. Helix's pages listed no price but described a five-month window, coaching calls and attorney graders. The choice comes down to price transparency, how writing is graded, and which format you will actually use.

01

Price transparency

Themis's public pricing page listed 2027 exam prep at $2,995 with a limited-time $1,895 price when paid in full, or $2,095 with $25 down, and a separate 10-month course for international candidates and LLM students at $3,895 with limited-time reductions. It says the $25 plan requires no contract, and that promotional prices depend on paying as specified. We did not find a course price on the Helix pages we read, so ask Helix directly and get it in writing.

02

Access

Themis lists four-month access, March to July for the July exam and November to February for the February exam. Helix says its course opens five months before the exam. A month's difference matters for someone who starts early or stretches the plan around a job.

03

Multiple-choice practice

Themis lists more than 4,000 multiple-choice questions and an integrated UWorld MBE QBank. UWorld's own page lists more than 1,900 MBE questions including more than 1,150 licensed NCBE questions in its stand-alone bank. Helix says it uses official NCBE practice questions plus NCBE-style questions from its panels of law professors, and that Helix NextGen includes every official NextGen question.

04

Writing feedback

Themis lists unlimited essay grading with its UGrader closed-system AI grader plus a dedicated attorney essay grader. Helix says its graders are licensed attorneys and describes that as insight AI cannot replicate, without giving a submission limit on the page we read. For writing, ask each how many submissions are included, how fast feedback comes back, and who grades.

05

Planning and coaching

Themis lists a study planner with an adaptive calendar, a progress tracker and a personalized support team. Helix lists an adaptive study plan, recommended 10-, 12-, 16- and 20-week schedules, and free one-on-one coaching calls with a licensed Attorney Director. Both promise adaptation. Test whether the plan actually moves when you fall behind.

06

Claims to check

Themis says its published pass rates are superior. Helix states a 90 percent pass rate on the July 2025 UBE. Ask each for the denominator, whether repeat takers are separated, and how the number is verified.
